San Diego Improving Teacher Quality Project

Each participating K-2 teacher will co-teach 27 arts lessons with a professional teaching artist during his or her first year in the program. In the second year, each will teach these same lessons on their own, with the support of resource teachers. Five schools serving high-poverty neighborhoods are scheduled to begin the program in the 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10 school years (for a total of 15 schools). This project is made possible by a $828,000 Improving Teacher Quality grant from the California Postsecondary Education Commission to the UCI Center for Learning through the Arts and Technology, in partnership with the San Diego Unified School District
